DESCRIPTION:
This 16-hour class introduces the rescue professional to the most advanced level of training outlined in the NFPA 1670 and 1006 Standards. This course is designed for organizations and emergency response personnel responsible for confined space entry and rescue operations in more complex environments. This course meets or exceeds the general requirements for NFPA 1670 Standard on Operations and Training for Technical rescue Incidents, Technician Level for Confined Space Rescue.
This is a physical and mentally demanding program that emphasizes safety, teamwork, and scene management. those with disabling fear of small, enclosed spaces or claustrophobia are discouraged from enrolling. Performance of all required practical skills as outlined in NFPA 1006 "Confined Space Rescue" Technician Level are necessary in order to receive a certificate.
This curriculum includes:
*Provide continued size-up of existing conditions at a confined space.
*Direct and manage appropriate divisions, groups and support personnel at a confined space.
*Procedures to assure that rescue team members take part in a medical screening program.
*Planning and response for entry type confined spaces is hazardous environments.
*Planning and response for entry type confined spaces in more complex and technical environments.
*Procedures for the selection, construction and use of rope rescue equipment in high angle environments.
*Procedcures for the selection, construction and use of rope rescue equipment in high angle environments.
*Procedures for the extrication of victims and information including location, surroundings, conditions, entrapment and any other information pertinent to EMS.
All equipment is provided. Students are required to provide their own helmets, gloves, steel toe boots, safety glasses, knee and elbow pads, headlamps and/or flashlights. Personal equipment must comply with NFPA and ANSI.
